Ironies

I spent the whole of yesterday night looking out for ironies in life; while still reeling over the indescribably stupid debates loss to SCGS, who totally did not deserve to win. I thought the best proposition case to the ridiculous motion of
"THW ban all interschool debate compettions" would be to not turn up, but in the spirit of debates, the debaters came to the debate and debated that they should ban the debate. Huge irony number one.

The speakers' scores were incredibly close, said the judge/adjudicator or whatever you call them. They didn't do their jobs right, that's for sure. I mean, the comments that they made at the end to the debaters; the motion we should have for the JG final should be "THW will ban lousy adjudicators". I mean, what the hell la. It was a TOTAL IRONY that the First Speaker of SCGS was stammering and stuttering and going in this really tiny voice "One of the aims of debates is to build confidence". I mean, if I were an RI debater, I would have said to hell with all the rules of gentlemanliness, you, madam, are showing no signs of confidence yourself, and after so many years of interschool competitive debating, YOU are the very evidence that ISCD (intersch comp debating) is NOT FULFILLING its aims and should be abolished.

Go to Nigel Fong's blog for his analysis of the debate; I mean: look. If our debaters did a crap job, and we deserve to be out, then fine, but the ironic thing is that our debates did well, and the SCGS debaters did a lousy job by ignoring some issues brought up by our side and putting them down in one or two sentences and moving on to their own points. Retarded. Anyway, more ironies are that Sengkang Square is NOT a square or even a square-resembling road. I thought of loads of ironies, but the most poignant one is really controversial, and I won't even post it here.

It's just stupid.

Lol enough about debates. Went for another training at safra, which was tiring. My backhand seems to be improving and together with my back to back victories on thursday, I'm feeling quite confident abt squash now. Just need to cut down on all those errors that I make all the time. Zz.
