Sports in the Weekend

The first grand slam of the year, the Australian Open is in full swing. Reaching the quarter-finals are many excellent players such as Roger Federer, who disposed of young 21 year old Novak Djokovic 6-2 7-5 6-3 in less than 2 hours. Joining him will be Andy Roddick, who currently holds the world record for the fastest serve set at the Stella Artois Queens Cup. Roddick beat Croat Mario Ancic in a 5 set thriller, and will play against, coincidentally, his good friend Mardy Fish. Also in the last 8 are Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, James Blake, Tommy Robredo, Tommy Haas and Thomas Berdych.

Over to soccer, Fulham leave it late AGAIN, scoring an 84th minute goal against Tottenham. Ironically, after scoring in the 94th minute in the recent league cup, and 91st minute against West Ham in the EPL to claim a win and a draw respectively, it was Tottenham who robbed them of 3 points, through an 88th minute Chimbonda goal. Jan Lastuvka is having a good time in goal for Fulham so far, but I tiao you ah, when Niemi comes back, he's going to make that bench **** warm ;)

The other big talking point of the weekend was Liverpool vs Chelsea, in which Chelsea, the multi-million dollar machine, was mutilated mercilessly. I mean, if you look at their lineup you will be like.. whattt? Who is their manager, Paul Chew? Buy everyone you think is good and mash them together? And putting Essien in defence is just ridiculous. Maybe Mourinho should have experimented with a backline of 3, how about that? He could have fitted Ashley Cole as left back, Paulo Ferreira as a lone center back instead. As he has more midfielders avaliable, there would be no problems staffing a 5 or 6 man midfield, which, in turn could cover as makeshift defenders when being forced backwards.

Well, here's something random from me, the team of the weekkkk :)

formation: 4-1-3-2 (or rather an adapted 442)
GK: Jan Lastuvka (Niemi's injured remember?) Fulham
LB: Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Tottenham
CB (no its not an expletive): Jamie Carragher, Liverpool
CB: Callum Davenport, West Ham
RB: Pascal Chimbonda, Tottenham
DMF: Claude Makelele, Chelsea
RMF: Seol Ki Heon, Reading
LMF: Nigel Quashie, West Ham
AMF: Gabriel Agbonlahor, Aston Villa
SS: Dirk Kuyt, Liverpool
CF: Dimitar Berbatov, Tottenham
